Privacy
NOLO does not ask for your email, does not sell your data, does not train on your chats, and does not track you across the web. Conversations are stored only on your own device (browser storage). The AI providers that run the chat are GDPR-compliant, are contractually barred from training on your messages, and are configured for zero data retention, so your conversations are not kept on their side. Optional tools like web search, images, market data and weather receive only the minimal keyword they need, such as a search term, a city or a ticker, never your full conversation, and follow their own policies.

Does NOLO save my conversations?
Yes, but only on YOUR device, in the browser's storage. To be clear, that on-device copy is not encrypted at rest, so anyone with access to your unlocked device could read it; clear your browser and it's gone. We don't have a "your chats" server, they don't exist for us.
Do you use my conversations to train models?
No. Your message reaches the AI provider, gets answered, and is not used for training: the chat providers we use are contractually barred from training on your messages and are configured for zero data retention, so the message is not kept on their side. Optional tools like web search or image generation only ever receive a short keyword, never your full chat.
Why don't you need my email?
Because we don't want to know it. The first time you arrive, we generate an anonymous ID. That ID is your account. No email = no spam, no tracking, no email-based recovery.
What models do you use?
Yes, and here they are. The chat models are open-weights: Fast runs gpt-oss-20b, Plus runs gpt-oss-120b, and Pro runs DeepSeek V4 Flash. Image understanding (reading and describing photos you upload) runs on a separate shared vision model used across every plan, not the chat model itself. Voice transcription uses Whisper. Image generation uses a third-party proprietary model (not open-weights). Open-weights means these are public model files we run on privacy-respecting infrastructure configured not to train on or retain your data, so the model's original maker never receives your messages. We don't publish the specific company that hosts the infrastructure, but we do tell you which model answers you.
Does NOLO understand images?
Yes, on every plan. Upload screenshots, scanned docs, diagrams or photos. NOLO extracts the text and describes the image.
How big can the documents I upload be?
Free/Plus: up to 128,000 tokens of context (~300 pages). Pro: up to 1,000,000 tokens (~2,000 pages).
Is NOLO better than ChatGPT?
Not in the model. ChatGPT uses frontier-level models that are objectively smarter than ours. NOLO is more honest in pricing, doesn't ask for email, handles non-English languages well, and won't bombard you with upsells.
Better than Gemini?
Gemini's free tier is brutally good and NOLO doesn't compete there. NOLO competes as an honest, independent alternative for people who care about how the product treats them.
Does it work offline?
No. It's AI chat in the cloud, so it needs internet.
